Western Province News

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve. (1 Peter 5:2-11)

This Word of God came very alive in the Western Province as Sr Sally the Provincial Superior and her team was installed on 10th June, 2020, in Maris Nivas, Bethany Provincial House, Dharwad.

The momentous occasion began with the Eucharistic Celebration in the morning officiated by Rev. Fr Melwyn Pinto SJ, Superior of Vidya Niketan Community, Dharwad, highlighted the qualities of a good leader who ought to be service minded and the same qualities to be imbibed in every member of the Province.

After the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration Sr Lillis BS the Asst. Superior General the delegate of the Superior General, installed Sr Sally, the Provincial Superior and her councillors, Sr Rose Ann, Sr Shalet Mendonca, Sr Michelle, and Sr Veronita. She gave inspiringl reflections on Servant Leadership.

A programme was held to felicitate the newly installed Provincial Superior and her Team. Sr Assumpta the outgoing Provincial Superior in her farewell address thanked everyone and expressed a sense of satisfaction for doing her very best to bring up the Province.

Sr. Lillis thanked Sr Assumpta for her selfless services for the welfare of the Province. She also thanked all the three past Provincials - Sr Rose Ann, Sr Shanthi Priya and Sr Assumpta for their great contribution for the growth and development of the Province. She gave a clarion call to all the members of the team to work in unity and collaboration and awareness that this land was blessed by our beloved Servant of God our Founder who used to be personally present for the erection of the new communities in the region.

Sr Sally expressed her readiness to do her very best in collaboration of all. She thanked everyone profusely especially Sr Lillis, for her presence and special love for the mission province.
