September 28, 2017: Abhyudaya Kendra, Santibastwad celebrated senior citizens’ day on Sept 23rd 2017. The programme commenced invoking the blessings of the Lord on all the participants. It was a memorable day for the 150 elderly people from ten villages of the SHG, who were part of the function. Sr Irene Crasta, the Coordinator of the Abhyudaya Kendra, welcomed the guest of the day. Sr Avina – 98 year old, the senior most sister of Gratia Plena Convent, was the President for the function. The special invitees were Mrs Pakirawa Patel aged 98, Mr Monoppa Bastwadkar aged 97, Mr Ishwar Kalekar aged 99, Mr Raiyappa Hanchhinamani age 70, and to our surprise, a 100 year old lady Mrs Parvatthama came from Thirthkunde village, with great interest and enthusiasm. We honoured the elderly with bouquet of flowers, memento, garland and a shawl. Thereafter, they were entertained with a short programme arranged by the students of St Joseph’s High School, Sacred Heart Primary School, and from SHG members. On this special day, they were recognized and appreciated for their life lived with gratitude and selflessness. All the elderly felt loved, cared, accepted and joyful throughout the programme. This programme was witnessed by the Gram Panchayat President, Vice President, Taluk Panchayat member, the parishioners, and the people from different villages. In the end meal was served for all.
