Bethany, Bendur 14 November: Sr Baptist of the Infant Jesus (93) nee Mariam of Bethany Congregation, Southern Province, passed away on November 13th, 2018 at 8.45 am at Eudes Convent, West Hill, Calicut,in Kerala. She hails from Changanacherry Diocese of Kottayam District. She is the daughter of late Mr Joseph and Catherine,Kareekunnel house.Her funeral rites will be held on 14th November 2018 at 11:00 am at St Michael’s Church, West Hill.
Sr Baptist has rendered her services in the schools, parishes and in non-formal education centres for about 63 years in our communities at Eudes Convent West Hill, Lourdes Convent Pallikunnu, St Ann’s Convent Pathanapuram, Bethany Convent Chathamangalam, Bethany Convent Thavam, Bethany Convent Kamukincode, Bethany Convent Thalamukhil.Bethany Convent Pilakkavu, Bethany Convent Moothedam, St Joseph’s Convent, Kalpetta and Bethany Provincial House Chevayur.
She was a committed and dedicated teacher and won the hearts of children and parents alike. After her retirement, she was fully engaged in pastoral work in the parishes. She was polite, witty and gentle in her ways. All through her years, she worked zealously. She was very cheerful always. Her obedience to the authorities and simplicity of life were remarkable. After her retirement from teaching she was ever ready to serve in any communities whenever her service was required and requested.
She was suffering from age related health issues and was completely bed ridden for the last six months.
