Bendur Mangalore,11 November: Sr Refuge BS (99) nee Marceline Correaof Bethany Congregation, Bangalore Province, passed away on November 11th 2018 at 1.30 am at JyothiNilaya,Kacharakanahalli, and Bengaluru. She has served as a religious for 77 years. She hails from St Raphael Church, Badyar, Diocese of Mangalore. Sr Refuge isthe eldestdaughter of lateMrNicolas Correa and Carmeline Correaand is survived by Sr Dominica BS and one brother and two sisters.
Sr Refugeis a rare gift of God to our Congregation.She began her religious life at Bethany Motherhouse, Bendur, Mangalore, in the year 1941 assisting at St Martha’s Industrial School.Sr Refugehas to her credit 30 years of service, in Belgaum Mission, engaged in evangelization and social ministry. She served as a boarding directress at Vidya Rani Convent,Chittapur, Gulburga and St Mary’s Convent, Goa. She served in St Antony’s shrine, Dornahally and continued her mission work at Madeleine Convent, Londa and Holy Cross Convent,Arasikere. In 2005 Sr Refuge joined JyothiNilaya, Kacharakanahalli, Bengaluru, where she continued her prayer ministry, blessing ministry and family apostolate. She had a special gift of pioneering the missions, nurturing every community wherever she was placed, by her life of prayer and deep faith in God. Sr Refuge was constantly in communion with the Lord by singing and praying the passion of the Lord.She won the hearts of each and every one whom she encountered in life.
Today in her we have an intercessor in heaven along with our Revered Founder, the Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas and the large band of our sisters. We are grateful to God for her gift to Bethany Congregation and to the Church.
Her funeral rites will be held on 12th November 2018 at 10.00 am at JeevanJyothi Chapel Kacharakanahalli, Bengaluru. Thereafter, her mortal remains will be taken to St Pius the X Church Cemetery,Kammanahalli for the burial.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and perpetual light shine upon her; may she rest in peace.
