Educational Ministry

The future of any nation lies with its youth. Greater Noida is a planned township and is a young, vibrant city, a microcosm of prestigious schools and institutions of higher learning in the National Capital Region (NCR). Feeling the pulse of the unemployed educated youth, specially the migrant girls, ‘Disha’, the Bethany Vocational Training Institute in Greater Noida was established to offer them hope and new direction consecutively. It aimed at formal and non-formal education of women and their development, and committed to the cause of uplift of women who are in search of a new path according to the vision of the Servant of God Raymond FC Mascarenhas, the founder of Sisters of the Little Flower Bethany Congregation.

Bethany Convent at Greater Noida was canonically erected on 5 August 2005 in the presence of Rt Rev. Oswald Gracias, the Archbishop of Agra Diocese, now the Cardinal and Archbishop of Mumbai, Sr Joy, the General Counsellor, and Sr Nora the Provincial Superior.

Disha is surrounded by prestigious Institutions. Mission at Disha was initially started with the formation of candidates guided by Sr Hilerian. On 25th January 2006, Disha opened its doors to the poor children of the locality for remedial classes; some of them were prepared for NIOS examination. On July 28, 2006 Sr Maria Leena, the Provincial Superior of Northern Province, inaugurated the Bethany Community College at Greater Noida offering courses like Secretarial Practice, Tailoring and Embroidery, Beauty Culture,  Computer education and Nursery teacher Training (NTT). In July 2008 with the relentless efforts of Sr Zelie, the Superior, Disha was affiliated to Indira Gandhi Institute of Vocational Training.

Disha, Bethany Vocational Institute also caters to the educational needs of 150 migrant workers’ children studying in classes 1-5 guided by the sisters and three teachers.

Sr Shamita, as the Principal, and Sr Leena, as a teacher, render their service at Fr Agnel School Greater Noida. In 2012 July 10, Bethany Convent opened its English Medium School named ‘Bethany Convent School’ which is up to class four till date having 500 and above children on role.

Delta- II area, where Bethany Convent and Bethany Vocational Institute are situated in Greater Noida, is developing at a fast pace. Sr Benedicta, the superior, with the full support of the community members, is galvanizing the efforts to make their apostolate more effective and relevant. Sisters take care of the pastoral needs of the migrating population by family visits, SCC prayers etc. Disha has broken all barriers of caste, creed and colour to bring deserving girls to its fold and make them more confident. Young girls are trained as teachers and for Indian Civil Service. Disha thus is a home to many young women where they learn to be self reliant, builders of home and society.
