1st February 2021 was a red-letter day in the annals of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany. On the eve of the World Day of the Consecrated Life instituted by St Pope John Paul II,Sr M Rose Celine BS, the Superior General released the ‘Revised Formation Ratio and Syllabus’ edited by Sr M Lillis BS, the Assistant Superior General and the General Coordinator of Formation and Sr M Joy BS a veteran formator and former Provincial Superior of North East Province in Pushpalaya Hall of the Mother House at 7.30 pm.
Speaking on the occasion, to a large congregation consisting of members of the Mother House and Generalate, sisters of prayer ministry and common juniorate programme, SrM Rose Celine BS, the Superior General highlighted the evolution of the Formation Ratio of the Congregation. She pointed out that right from the inception, the time of the Founder Bethany has given due importance to the Formation of the members. The Formation Programmechiefly based on the directives of the Church framed by late Sr M Violette BS was approved by the XI General Chapter in 1986.Thereafter during the successive General Chapters and other reflective sessions,the leaders of the Congregation along with the formators worked at updating the then existing formation programme.The same was presented to the Congregation in 2006 by Sr M Jyoti BS the Superior General and was implemented by our formators. Sr Rose Celine expressedthat it is a happy coincidence that in the Centenary Year of the of Bethany,the revised Formation RATIO is printed as a Book.
She acknowledged and appreciated the hard work of Sr M Lillis BS, the Assistant Superior General and General Coordinator of Formation and Sr M Joy BS the veteran formator in revising and getting it printed at the earliest. Bothhad actively worked at the 2006 version along with other formators.She called on the Sisters to make use of the document effectively and creatively for the formation of the members. Sr Rose Celine then felicitated Sr M Lillis BS with a shawl and Sr M Shanthi Priya BS greeted her with a bouquet of flowers. Sr. Lillis in turn thanked Sr Rose Celine for her constant support and guidance and Sr Joy for her lion’s share of contribution. She said all the formators were involved in reviewing the Ratio during the Formators’ meeting held in Umsning, Meghalaya in the year 2019,studied in the Enlarged council of 2020 and finally approved in the General council.
The programme ended with a hymn of thanks and agape.
