19 May 2024, the day of the solemnity of Pentecost, embarked a new chapter, a mile stone in the history of the Bangalore Province.The newly elected Provincial Superior Sr Sahana and her Councillors with the members of the Province participated in the Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration at 9 am in Jeevan Jyothi Chapel officiated by Rev Fr Kulandai Swamy, the Assistant Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Servants of Charity.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the assembly gathered at the Provincial House Hall for the installation ceremony. Rev Sr Rose Celine, the Superior General conducted the Ceremony which was a solemn and spiritually enriching experience. At the outset, the newly elected Provincial Superior, her team, along with Superior General Sr. Rose Celine lit the lamp symbolizing God’s presence during this sacred occasion,while a hymn to the Holy spirit was sung.
Thereafter Sr Rose Celine, the Superior General in the name of the Church installed Sr. Sahana as the Provincial Superior of the Bangalore Province for the second term. Sr Sahana then took her Oath of Office reaffirming her dedication for servant leadership in the service of Bangalore Province. Symbols such as Shawl, Bible, Book of Constitutions, Crucifix, Keys and Pass Book were offered by the Superior General denoting the various responsibilities involved in leading the Province followed by a short prayer of self-offering by Sr Sahana. This was followed by the Installation of the Provincial Councillors, Sr Winnifred Mascarenhas, I councillor, Sr Cynthia Pais, II Councillor, Sr Susan III councillor and Sr Ranjitha IV Councillor and taking the Oath of Office. The Provincial Superior and the team made a self-offering,placing the lighted lamps at the altar. The ceremony concluded singing the Magnificat recalling the wonders done by the Mighty God.
Then a short felicitation program was organized. The Provincial Superior and the team were felicitated with songs, bouquets of flowers and the carving of the cake. Sr Sahana expressed her sentiments of gratitude to the Superior General for placing the deep trust in the animation of the Province. She shared her vision for the Province emphasizing fidelity to the Charism and Spirituality of the Congregation. She expressed her gratitude to the outgoing Councillors Sr Precilla Fernandes and Sr Sharlet Rodrigues for their outstanding contribution for the growth of the Province.
Sr Rose Celine in her address called upon the Provincial Superior and her team to work in collaboration, cooperation and dedication towards the growth of the Province and thus foster a sense of communion in our communities and have deeper spiritual commitment in leading the sisters in their spiritual journey. Sr Ranjitha, the Provincial Councillor, raised her voice of gratitude.
Sisters from various communities and candidates witnessed this significant occasion and offered their joyful felicitations to them. This memorable event ended with a sumptuous meal thanking the lord for all the wonders he has worked through Bethany.
