With this blessed assurance of Jesus, our dear Sr Marie Amy flew to the home of her Creator on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 8.00 pm, at the age of 72 and 50th year of her religious life at Jyothi Nilaya, Bangalore. Sr Marie Amy nee Amy D’silva hails from Vamanjoor, belongs to St Lawrence Church Bondel, Mangalore. She was the youngest of eight children of late Mr Piadade D’Silva and late Mrs Flora D’Silva. She had two brothers and five sisters. Sr Anita Moras BS of Eastern Province is her niece.

Sr Marie Amy was a loving and caring sister. She had great love for the poor, the sick, the aged and the needy. She carried out all her assigned responsibilities placing her trust in the Lord and considering it as God given mission. Her devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Virgin Mary was notable. During her illness and testing times, she spent time in prayer interceding to the needs of the world, church and the Congregation. Spent time in listening to online talks and prayers. She has rendered commendable service in the field of education. She was also involved in pastoral activities such as teaching catechism, visiting the families, sick, and the aged, and attending SCC meetings.

She had her primary education from St. Joachim’s Hr Pry School, Kelarai, high school education from Sacred Heart’s High School, Kulshekar, B.Ed. from St Joseph’s B.Ed. College, Mysuru. She served as a loving and committed teacher and Headmistress in our institutions at Stella Maris, Sultanpur, Bethany Bangalore, St Joseph’s, K.R. Nagar, St Mary’s, Arsikere, St Martha’s Mudigere, St Mary’s Dahanu Road,St Joseph’s, Sagar, Jyothi Nilaya, Bangalore and St Antony’s, Ponnampet Coorg.

She was suffering from chronic infectious arthritis for the last few years and was finding difficult to move about. For the further treatment she was transferred to Bethany Convent, Jayamahal in 2020, thereafter she was shifted to Jyothi Nilaya community Bangalore.

On January 28, 2023 around 7:30pm she showed symptoms of uneasiness. Seeing her condition sisters from the community and Provincialate community rushed at her bedside and gave her the spiritual assistance. She suffered cardiac arrestat 8:00 pm and flew away to meet her eternal bridegroom in the presence of the sisters of the community and Provincialate Community. They commended her soul to God.

Her Funeral rites will be held at Jyothi NilayaConvent chapel, Bangalore on 30.01.2023 at 10:30 am.

I extend my sincere condolences to Sr Sahana, the Provincial Superior and all the sisters of Bangalore Province; Sr Susan, the local Superior and the members of Jyothi Nilaya Convent, Bangalore.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace!
