Sr Ann Maria BS (77) nee PP Annamma of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany passed away on October 2nd 2022 at 3.15pm at Bethany Provincial House, Chevayur, Calicut in Kerala. She hails from Pala Diocese of Idukki District. She is the 7th Child of late Mr Philippose and Mariamma Pulikkal. Sr Franceline BS of Southern Province is her younger Sister.
Her funeral rites will take place at 2.00pm in the Provincial House Chapel on 3 October 2022 and the mortal remains will be interred in the West hill cemetery.
Sr Ann Maria BS has rendered her services as a nurse, hospital administrator, superior, province procurator and a zealous missionary for about 51 years in the communities of Kinnigoli,Pallikunnu,Faridabad,Idinthakarai, Vadakangulam, and Chevayur.
She was a very loving Superior and was very respectful to the higher Superiors. She was a committed in her mission specially to the sick and won the hearts of many through her compassionate service. She carried out her responsibility diligently and faithfully.
She was diagnosed with the cancer of Adrenal gland in the year 2008 and from then on treatment from Vellore Cancer centre, MVR Hospital, Calicut, Nirmala hospital, Marikunnu, MIMS Hospital, Calicut were given to her. She faced her sickness with unmatched will power all through these years. Her trust in the Lord and the spirit of prayer were noteworthy. She lived healthy life for 14 years after the diagnosis of her illness through her trust in the power of intercession of Fr Founder. To the doctors her survival seemed to be miraculous.
Of late, as no further medication was possible on her, doctors advised for pain and palliative care. She was then onwards given home care with the help of Calicut Medical College Palliative Care Unit under the guidance of Sr Hermina the local Superior who is also a nurse. She had a fall in the month of July and fractured her hip. She was bedridden from then on. Gradually her health deteriorated with acute breathing difficulty and she answered the final call of Jesus her beloved on 02.10.2022 at 3.15pm. Her home-going was peaceful in the presence of Sr Judy Varghese the Provincial Superior and community sisters.
I extend my sincere condolences to Sr Judy Varghese BS, the Provincial Superior and all the sisters of Southern Province; Sr Hermina, the local Superior and the members of Bethany Provincial House, Chevayur.
