Obituaries

Sr M Seraphine BS (90) of The Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Southern Province, passed away on February 6th, 2021 at 10.45 am at Bethany Convent, Chevayur, Calicut, Kerala. She hails from Punnathara,Kottayam from the Diocese of Palai. She is the daughter of late Mr Chacko and Aleykutty Vadakkel and sister of Sr Rose Mary (Southern Province) Her funeral rites will be held on 7th February 2021 at 3:00 pm at Bethany Provincial House Chevayur. It will be officiated by Most Rev.Dr. Varghese Chakkalakal, the Bishop of Calicut.

Sr Seraphine was noted for her commitment to duty, cheerfulness, neatness and hospitality. She has rendered her services in the communities of Sancta Cruz Convent Kulasheker, Maryvale Convent Kinnikoli, Nazareth Convent Bajpe,Lourdes Convent Pallikunu, Eudes Convent West Hill, St. Paul’s Convent Thenhipalam and Bethany Provincial House, Chevayur.

Sr Seraphine was bed ridden due to old age sickness along with problems of Diabetics and cardiac disease.On 5th February Sr Seraphine showed signs of discomfort and doctor was called for from Baby Memorial Hospital.They did thorough check up and did not findany major problems. This morning at 10.30 am she showed discomfort and at 10.45 am in the presence of sisters and home nurse, she silently passed away. The doctor was immediately called for and declared that she had massive cardiac arrest.

Most of her life was spent in home management and hospitality. She was very keen to maintain the Convent, and to take care of the guests. Being a committed and dedicated person, she faithfully managed all the given tasks.

I extend my sincere condolences to Sr Santhosh Maria, the Provincial Superior and her team as well as Sr Judy Varghese, the Superior and the community at Bethany Convent, Chevayur, Calicut, for the loving care that they bestowed on her especially during her illness.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her; may she rest in peace.
