Sr Jessy Mary Lasrado passed away today as the day dawned on All Souls day at Presentation Convent, Dharwad. She was born on 10.12.1966 at Bantwal, to Late Mr Denis Lasrado and late Mrs Stella D’ Souza, of Our Lady of Velankani Church, Farla in the Diocese of Mangalore and is the youngest of their five children.
She joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany on 15.05.1990 after completing her D.Ed. at St Ann’s D.Ed. College, Mangalore and after serving as teacher in the North Eastern Mission for four years.
After her religious formation in Mangalore, she was assigned Bangalore/Western Province and she has rendered services in the Congregation as Superior of communities and in the field of education as teacher and Headmistress at St Michael’s Convent, Dandeli, Ave Maria Convent,Sirsi in the Diocese of Karwar, Sacred Heart Convent, Basrikatte in the Diocese of Chikmagalur, Madeleine Convent Londa, Christ King Convent Guledgudd and currently at Presentation Convent Dharwad in the Diocese of Belgaum. In rain or sunshine her devotion to duty was unparalleled, her religious commitment conscientious and her missionary zeal remarkable.
For the past two years she was ailing from cancer and after purifying her through the cruicible of suffering, it pleased the Lord to take her away today when the Church commemorates All souls day, to join in the company of the departed to enjoy heavenly bliss free from suffering.
Funeral rites will be held at Holy Cross Church, Dharwad tomorrow i.e. 03.11.2019, at 3.00 p.m. Mass will be officiated by Most Rev. Dr. Derek Fernandes, Bishop of Belgaum Diocese.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord,
Let perpetual light shine upon her
May her soul rest in peace.
