The initiation of 20 affiliates from Silchar, Guwahati and Eastern Provinces into Sacred Heart Pre-Novitiate at Avila Convent Chapel Lumding, Silchar Province took place on 16 June 2023, the Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus. Sr Lucious, the Provincial Superior of Silchar Province received them into the Pre-Novitiate. They were accompanied by their respective Provincial Superiors, Sr Benedicta Arahna, Provincial Superior, Guwahati Province, Sr Jessy Maria, Provincial Superior, Eastern Province, Sr Surekha, formation coordinator Silchar Province, Sr Ruth, formation coordinator Guwahati Province, and Community Sisters. The affiliates went in procession with lighted candles, signifying theirentrance into a new phase of religious formation. Prayers, hymns, and readings from Holy Scripture were incorporated into the ceremony, highlighting the Pre-Novices’ journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. The Provincial Superior of Guwahati Province, Sr Benedicta Aranha delivered a message, highlighting the significance of the Pre-Novitiate formation and encouraging the Pre-Novices to be salt and light of the world. She emphasized the importance of salt in preserving things. She also highlighted the importance of prayer, discernment, and personal growth during this formative period.Each Pre-Novice was presented with a chain and a cross symbolizing the centrality of Jesus in their lives
A special blessing was imparted to the Pre-Novices invoking God’s guidance and grace as they embarked on this path of formation and discernment. The ceremony concluded with a Magnificat, seeking the assistance of Mother Mary throughout the period of their formation. On 17 June, 2023, Sr Lucious, the Provincial Superior of Silchar Province installed Sr Elizabeth Uchoi as the new Pre-Novice Directress of Sacred Heart Pre - Novitiate, Lumding, Silchar Province. The installation ceremony took place in the Avila Convent chapel and was attended by Community Sisters, and Pre-Novices. The ceremony commenced with Bethany Anthem followed by the Liturgy of the Word, prayers of invocation, and a special blessing. Sr Lucious, the Provincial Superior, presided over the ceremony, with Sr Mary Diki, the outgoing Pre-Novice Directress. She prayed offering symbols to Sr Elizabeth, signifying various aspects of her new role. Sr Lucious, the Provincial Superior expressed her gratitude to Sr Mary Diki, the outgoing Pre-Novice Directress. She assured Sr Elizabeth Uchoi her prayers and support in her new responsibilityof accompanying and forming the formees.
