August 3, 2017: Sr Roman BS (64 yrs) nee Romana Simplicia Fernandes passed away on Thursday August 3rd at 5.45 pm at the age of 64, and 43 years of her religious life, at Gratia Plena Convent, Santibastwad, Belgaum Dist. Funeral celebration is on 04.08.2017 at 11 am at Gratia Plena Convent, Santibastwad. Sr Roman hails from Holy Cross Church, Hosabettu, Karkala Taluk of Udupi Diocese and is the daughter of late Joseph Lawrence Fernandes and late Juana Carmine Pinto. The places she served are Bethany Convent Naini, Bethany Convent, Mangalore; St Mary’s Convent Dhanu Road; Loyola Convent, Gadag; Ave Maria Convent Sirsi; Bethany Convent, Ambewadi; Gratia Plena Convent, Santibastwad and St Mary’s Convent Quepem.. She has served as Superior at Ambewadi, Santibastwad and Kripalaya. Sr Roman BS is a humble, prayerful and hardworking person. She was ready for any type of work. She loved the children in the school as well as in the Boarding and Orphanage. During her ill health in the recent years at St Mary’s Convent, Quepem and at Gratia Plena Convent, Santibaswad she would spend most of her time before the Blessed Sacrament. She was given medical treatment in various hospitals. Finally well disposed to meet her maker she flew to her Heavenly reward on 3rd August 2017 at 5.45 p.m. surrounded and assisted by her Superior Sr Irene Crasta and the sisters of the community.
