Sr Maria Flora BS (68) nee Florine D’Souza of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Bangalore Province passed away on Thursday 7 May 2020 at 2pm at Jayadeva Hospital, Bangalore.

She was born at Balkunje in Mangalore on 09.12.1952. She is the first child of Late Albert D’Souza and Late Mrs Angeline D’Souza. Her funeral rites will be held at St Pius X Church, at Kamanahalli Parish on 8 May Friday 2020 at 9.30am.

Sr Maria Flora Joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, in the year 24.05.1969 and made her first profession on 10.05.1974. She has rendered commendable service in the field of education as Headmistress and teacher in the schools under Fatima Convent Madanbhavi, Christ King Guledgudd, Presentation Convent, Dharwad, St Joseph’s Convent, Sagar, St Martha’s Convent, Mudigere, Mother of Mercy Convent Gadenahalli and Jyothi Nilaya Bangalore. She was a committed religious who loved to spend long hours before the Blessed Sacrament.

She was a loving and dedicated teacher to the poor children in missions. After her retirement from teaching service in the aided school, she involved herself in pastoral activities and administration of the English Medium School at Bilagula, Mudigere.

As she was suffering from heart disease she was transferred to Jyothi Nilaya, Bangalore for the needed treatment. Even during her illness she took great care of elderly sisters who were with her. Two days back she had a fall. But she did not show any uneasiness. On 7th morning she was taken to the hospital and got admitted in ICU. At 2 p m she had a cardiac arrest which was fatal and she flew away to meet her eternal bridegroom leaving all of us in great grief. Sr Bonita the Provincial superior, Sr Susan the Asst.Provincial Superior and Superior of Jyothi Nilaya and Sr Sheetal were at her bedside in the hospital. Her watchword was “God takes care of me”.

I express my sincere condolences to Sr Bonita,the Provincial superior, her team of councilors, Sr. Susan, the Superior and the members of the community of Jyoti Nilaya.

Eternal rest grants unto her O Lord and Let perpetual light shine upon her: may she rest in peace.
