It is with great grief I regret to inform you that Sr Joel BS (77) of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away, due to cardiac arrest, on Thursday 13th of February 2020 at 6.00 am when I was on my canonical visit to Bethany Mother House, Mangalore. She is the member of this Community. She hails from Kulur, Mangalore Diocese, and is the daughter of late Mr Benjamine D’Souza and late Mrs Josephine DSouza. Her funeral Mass will be held at Bethany Convent Chapel, Bendur, on Friday 14th February at 3.30 pm.
Sr Joel served in home management in convents such as, Rosa Mystica Kinnikambla, Karnal of Northern Province and Bethany Mother House, Bendur. She was also involved in pastoral apostolate visiting families, the sick, taking care of the Bethany heritage centre and active in prayer ministry. She was faithful to the work assigned to her. She was known for her life of simplicity and loyalty to the Congrgation.
She was highly diabetic patient and later in life developed heart problems. She was under medication during the past few years. However, she was attending to her daily chores regularly. Most of her time was spent in the chapel praying for various intentions. She had great devotion and faith in Fr Founder and advocated his cause among the public by distributing his pictures and speaking about him.
I express my sincere condolences to the members of the Mother House, and in a special manner to Sr Cleopha the Administrator, Sr Anitha Shanthi, the Superior, and all the members of the Mother House community.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord,
Let perpetual light shine on her
May her soul rest in peace!
