Sr Leonora BS (82) of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away on Thursday 26th December 2019. She is the member of Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla. She hails from Kinnigoli, Mangalore Diocese, and is the daughter of late Mr Albert Menezes and late Mrs Regina DSouza. Her funeral Mass will be held at Rosa Mystica Convent Chapel, Kinnikambla on Friday 27th December 2019 at 3.00 pm.
Sr Leonora served as a teacher in many schools of Bangalore, Western and Mangalore Provinces. After her retirement from teaching service she involved herself in the pastoral activities, like, teaching catechism, visiting families, attending SCC meetings, visiting the sick and prayer ministry. She was always faithful to rise early in the morning to spend her time in prayer. She is known for her life of simplicity and loyalty. She was a voracious reader too.
For many years she enjoyed good health. Recently on 4th December 2019 she had a fall and hurt her leg and was admitted to Concetta Hospital, Kinnigoli, for the treatment. She slowly recouped her health and was discharged. Later on, once again she had a fall on 14th December. As she had hip bone fracture she was admitted to Fr Muller’s Hospital, Kankanady. Her health gradually deteriorated and she was shifted to MICU on 23rd December. She developed infection in the lungs and had kidney failure. On 24th December the dialysis was done. Still her health did not improve. On 26th December she was shifted to Concetta Hospital, Kinnigoli, to continue her treatment. Unfortunately, within an hour of her arrival there, she breathed her last at 5.20 pm in the presence of Sr Juliana Monis, the Superior of Rosa Mystica Convent, and other sisters along with the hospital staff.
I express my sincere condolences to the members of Rosa Mystica community, and in a special manner to Sr Cicilia Mendonca the Provincial Superior, Mangalore Province and her team members.
