Sr Lynette(59)nee Philomena Dias of Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany Western Province passed away today (5.06.2019) at 1.15 a.m. at Concetta, Hospital,Kinnigoli, Mangalore, where she was taking treatment.
She hails from Vittal, Bantwal Taluka, in the Diocese of Mangalore. She is the daughter of late Mr Faustine and late Mrs Josephine Dias. Funeral rites will be held at St Antony’s Church, Sirsi, tomorrow (06.06.2019) at 10 am. Today (05.06.2019) Mass will be offered at Kinnigoli convent chapel at 2.30 pm. Thereafter, her mortal remains will be shifted to Ave Maria Convent,Sirsi.
Sr Lynette joined the congregation on 23.06.1977 and made her first profession on 05.05.1981. She has rendered services in the field of education as Headmistress and teacher. She was a committed religious, loving superior, dedicated teacher to the poor and renowned missionary. She was the pioneer of Bethany Convent,Ankola, in the Diocese of Karwar. She served in St Paul’s Thenhipalam, Calicut, Loyola Convent Gadag, St Mary’s Arsikere,St Michael’s Ambewadi and Ave Maria, Sirsi till date.
Sr Lynette was a member of Ave Maria Convent Sirsi. She had a fall and was operated upon but not able to speak. On 23.03.2019 she was admitted to Fr Muller’s Hospital, for jaundice where she was diagnosed to have Gall bladder Cancer which was at the last stage. After eight days she was shifted to Concetta Hospital, Kinnigoli for further treatment, from which she never recovered. She was lovingly taken care by Sr (Dr)Jeevitha, her batch sister, Sr Nathalia her own sister, her niece Sr Lavita, Sr Celine,the Superior, the sisters of the community at Ave Maria Convent Sirsi, and Ms Deepa the care taker, at the hospital.The Lord was pleased to take her quickly to the heavenly abode.
