Sr M Christita (72) nee Juliana Pinto of Bethany Congregation of North East Province passed away today Sunday on the 31st March 2019 at 12.45 pm at Bethany Provincial House, Garchuk, Guwahati.
She hails from Farangipetof Holy Family Church, Omzoor. She is the daughter oflate MrLigory Pinto and late Mrs Maria Lobo.Her funeral rites will be held at Bethany Provincial House, Guwahati on Tuesday 2nd April at 10 am.
Sr Christita came to North East Mission after her first profession in the year 1969. She has rendered yeomen services in the field of formal education centres as a teacher, hostel warden and was actively involved in pastoral work in Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and West Bengal. She was a committed religious, loving superior, dedicated teacher to the poor, and a renowned missionary. She has carved for herself a niche in the hearts of the children, sisters and people in general. Bethany salutes her for her 50 years of dedicated religiouslife as a missionary in North East India.
Sr Christita was a member of Bethany Convent, Brabourne Road, Kolkata, and had come to Bethany Provincial House, Guwahati for treatment in the month of December. She was diagnosed to have Gall Bladder Cancer. Even in her sickness she continued to be cheerful and prayed for the Congregation and the world at large. Far away from her home land, she was lovingly taken care of by Sr Joy, the Provincial Superior, and all the sisters of the Provincial House. The Lord was pleased to take her quickly to the heavenly abode.
