Sr M Fidelia BS (81) nee Philomena Fernandes of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away today, Sunday, 24th March 2019, at Fr Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore. She is the member of St Raymond’s Convent, Vamanjoor. She hails from Mumbai,Maharastra, and is the daughter of late Mr Gasper Fernades and late Mrs Magdaline D’ Mello.Her funeral rites will be held at St Raymond’s Convent Chapel, Vamanjoor on 25thMarch 2019 at 3.30 pm.
Sr M Fidelia BS has served as a teacher in many of our schools in Mangalore Province, in the Diocese of Mangalore. After her retirement from teaching service, she involved herself as per the direction of her authorities in pastoral activities such as teaching catechism, visiting families, attending BCC meetings, visiting the sick and also served as a local Procurator with utmost generosity and love. She loved to spend time before the Blessed Sacrament. Rosary never slipped from her hands even in times of her illness. She is known for her simplicity of life.
For many years she used to enjoy good health. During the past few months she was suffering from age related problems. She was admitted to Fr Muller Hospital Kankanady for treatment in December 2018, after which she returned to the community and enjoyed good health. Today, this morning at 3.00 am she complained of chest pain and was immediately shifted to Fr Muller Hospital where she breathed her last at 4.00am due to cardiac arrest.
