Bethany mangalore 4 march 2019: Sr M Merlyn D’ Costa BS (72) nee Theresa Merlyn D’ Costa of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, passed away on Monday 4th March 2019 at Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla. She hails from Valencia, Mangalore, D.K District and is the daughter of late Mr Fredrick D’Costa and late Mrs Alice D’ Costa.Her funeral rites will be held at Rosa Mystica Convent chapel on 5th March 2019at 3.30 pm.
Sr Merlyn D’ Costa served as a teacher even before she joined the congregation and after her Religious formation in many of our schools in Mangalore Province in Mangalore Diocese. After her retirement from teaching service she involved herself in the pastoral activitieslike teaching catechism, visiting the families, attending BCC meetings, visiting the sick etc.
She used to spend time in personal prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. She was a loving sister, known for her simplicity, joviality and living a contented life. She was good at gardening, singing,reading books, acting, a good musicianand a lover of nature.
She enjoyed good health. For the past some years she suffered from diabetes. She was often admitted to the hospital for treatment.Recently she was hospitalized in Concetta Hospital for treatmentfor two months. She suffered from high diabetes, liver cirrhosis and kidney failure. She was brought back to the community on 2nd March.She breathed her last on 4th March 2019 at 4.30 am in the presence of Sr Juliana, the superior and the community sisters.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord,
Let perpetual light shine on her.
May her soul rest in peace
