Sr M Luke BS (84) nee Mary A J of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore, belonging to Southern Province passed away on 11th May 2018 at 9.30am. She hails from Sreekandapuram, Kannur district,Diocese of Kotttayam, Kerala. She is the 7th among 8 children of late Mr JosephAakkakunnel and Mrs Mariamma Joseph.Presently she is a member of Bethany Provincial House, Chevayur. Sr Luke’s funeral rites will be held at Bethany Provincial House, Chevayur on Saturday at 9am. The funeral rites will be officiated by Most Rev Dr Varghese Chakkalakal, Bishop of Kozhikode.
Sr Luke served as a teacher ofmany of our schools in Southern Province. After her retirement she spent her time in pastoral activities, like visiting the families, visiting the sick, encouraging familiesto attend retreats, preparing children for sacraments, preparing and giving natural medicine for sick people etc. She used to spend long hours in personal prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. She was a loving sisterwas noted for her diligence in religious duties, simple living, loving relationship, and joviality. She was enjoying rather good health and happily went to bed yesterday. This morning she hada mild headache and vomited twice. She received the Sacrament of Confession and Holy Communion in the morning at 8.00 am from the priest who offered Mass in the convent. As we were preparing to take her to the hospital, suddenly she collapsed and went to the Lord peacefully.
