29 July, 2023, Feast of Bethany Saints  was a memorable day in the annals of Tanzania Delegation, the celebration of ten years of it's presence in three dioceses of Tanzania namely SAME, DAR ES SALAM and ARUSHA. There was great jubilation and exultation, singing the praises of the Lord.

At the invitation of Most  Rev Rogath Kimario the Bishop of SAME Diocese,  the little sapling of Bethany was planted in Mwanga, in the Diocese of SAME, in the year 2013. The initial preparation and setting the soil was done by  Sr Lellis the former General Councilor and  Sr Christine the former Procurator General. The four daring pioneers Sr Antonette Coutinho, Sr Ruth Ann, Sr Zeena and Sr Jesmani made a leap of faith into the unknown.The sapling has grown steadily during the past ten years, sending its roots deeper into the local soil of Tanzania.

To mark this memorable occasion a thanksgiving Eucharist was celebrated by Most Rev Rogath Kimario, Bishop of SAME Diocese and concelebrated by 9 priests. Going down the memory lane it was a joyous occasion to recount the wonders the Lord has worked for Bethany  in Tanzania mission.  The gracious presence of 6 priests of Mangalore Diocese - Tanzania Delegation, Parish priests of Mwanga and Ngurdoto, Assistant Parish priest of Vikuge, and other priests, Ursuline Sisters of Mangalore, Immaculate sisters, Grails sisters, parishners, members of parish council, representative of Bethany Lay Association, parents and relatives of our local sisters and candidates, 4 representatives of 1st batch of our school, public officials, civil authorities, teachers, and  students  enhanced our joy.

The melodious choir by the students of Bethany Secondary School and parish youth under the able direction of Mr Thaddeus the school teacher added grandeur and solemnity to the occasion.The air of festivity with music and dance at every corner redoubled the jubilation. Sr Anitha Menezes the Delegation Councilor accorded words of welcome to the dignitaries, guests and all the participants. The felicitation program depicting  Bethany in Tanzania, with rhythmic steps in cultural style added variety and beauty to the celebration.  Power point presentation of  the  history of Delegation, supported by Decennial message from Rev Sr Rose Celine, the Superior General  made an impact on the assembly.

Most Rev Rogath Kimario,Chief Guest of the day appreciated the Sisters for bringing life in Mwanga and in turn to SAME diocese.  He urged Sisters to focus on the vision of the Founder to empower the least of the society and to serve with enthusiasm and commitment. Sr Shanthi Priya, Assistant Superior General and coordinator for Socio- Medical and Pastoral Apostolate, President of the programme, Sr Mariette General Councilor and coordinator for Formation, Guest of Honour, Sr Antonette Coutinho, pioneer as well as Delegation Superior impressed the audience with their message. The dignitaries and those associated with us closely in our mission were felicitated.

Sr Vandana Peirera, the Delegation Councillor voiced her gratitude to every one responsible to make this day a significant one. After the carving of Jubilee cake all took part in the sumptuous meal with a grateful heart God who accompanied Bethany all through the years.
