August 31, 2017: The Province Assembly of Bangalore Province commenced at Bethany Provincial House, Kacharakanahalli, Bangalore on 25th August morning. The Provincial team of Bangalore Province and the Superiors of 19 communities of the Province serving in the archdiocese of Bangalore, dioceses of Mysuru, Chikkamagalur and Shivamogga in all 25 of them participated on the first day of the Assembly. Keynote address was delivered by Sr Bonita BS, Provincial Superior, based on the theme of National CRI “Called to be women of contemplation, communion and compassion.” Sr Susan, the Assistant Provincial Superior, Sr Sahana, the coordinator of formation, Sr Precilla, the coordinator of pastoral, social and medical ministry, Sr Sharlet Rodrigues, the coordinator of vocation animation, Sr Therese, the Province procurator made a presentation of their respective ministries. The headmistresses of all the schools of the Province about 32 of them joined on 26th & 27th, continuing to reflect on the same theme. The sessions of the day were animated by Rev Fr MK George SJ, Provincial Superior of Kerala Province leading us into deeper reflection on the same theme. Sr Mariette, the General Councillor and the Secretary of Bethany Educational Society shared vividly her insights into the saintly personality of the Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas who was a man of contemplation and compassion. Sr Premitha, the Principal of St Theresa’s ICSE School, Mangalore, from her longstanding experience spoke of the benefits of having PTA in the schools. The sharing of rich experiences by the participants during the workshop strengthened the bond of communion among the members energizing them for deeper compassion in their ministry. In the end the mission imperatives of our reflections on Contemplation, Communion and compassion were evolved through an action plan.
