July 26, 2017: A day of Jubilation and Celebration at Stella Maris. The whole campus bore a festive look with illuminations, decorations and buzzing activities for the inaugural function of Golden Jubilee of Stella Maris Convent and School on 11th July 2017. Stella Maris Convent was opened on 2nd July 1968 in the diocese of Allahabad with the pioneers late Sr Canice, Superior and Principal, late Sr Doylene, Sr Yolande and Sr Imani. It was because of their hard work and that of Fr Stephen Rodrigues, the then Parish Priest and builder of Primary School wing, a tiny seed that was sown in July 1968, has become a mighty tree with 3200 students on roll, with classes K.G to XII. The Jubilee programme began with a Thanksgiving Mass. A band of 50 students led the entrance procession with 50 lamps in their hands, which they placed on the candle stand. They were followed by Priests and Bishop Raphy Manjaly. The Choir consisted of SMC staff, students and the members of the parish. The choir was vibrant and melodious, kept us all spell bound and made the liturgy very lively. Kudos! to our choir members. The sermon was preached by Bishop Raphy Manjaly. All heard with rapt attention. It was a fitting message as there were many Non-Christian participants. Bishop said, “In this jubilee year, do everything for the glory of God”. There was the blessing of Foundation stone of new wing at Narayanpur by the Bishop after the Mass and Sr Shaila the Provincial Superior laid the Foundation at the site the next day. After the Mass the Congregation gathered in the Church yard and the Jubilee Cake was cut by Sr Shaila the Provincial Superior and the sisters of the community which was shared by all. At the end Jubilee meal was served to all. We raise our hearts in gratitude to all past superiors, principals, sisters, parish priests and staff who served this institution.
