Sr Immaculate (73)
Sr Immaculate (73) nee Felcy Albuquerque,Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Northern Province flew to her heavenly abode at 9:31am amidst anointing and prayers today (20.08.2019) at Sacred Heart Convent,Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana.
She hails from Derebail Parish, in the Diocese of Mangalore. She is the daughter of late Mr Louis Albuquerque and Mrs Lily Albuquerque. Her twin sister Sr Marylette BS who was serving her in her last days was present at her bed side when she breathed her last. Funeral rites will be held at Sacred Heart Convent, Ludhiana on 22.08.2019 at 10 am. Thereafter, her mortal remains will be laid to rest in the Parish cemetery, Ludhiana.
Sr Immaculate joined the Congregation on 15.08.1965 and made her first profession on 06.05.1968.She has rendered services in the field of education and school office and accounts department. She taught in the school for 19 years.
She was a committed religious, loving superior, principal and dedicated teacher excelled in art and craft. She was ever ready at the service of the community.
Sr Immaculate was suffering from breastcancerand was treated when she was in St Joseph’s Convent, Bathinda in the year 2008. She recovered from this illness and was back to normal life and work. Thereafter she continued her service in the school office at St Joseph’s Convent, Bathinda and for the last four years at St Theresa’s Convent School, Karnal.
In the month of April 2019 inspite of regular checkups she complained of pain, weakness, loss of appetite and weight. The Doctors at Forties in New Delhi diagnosed spread of cancer cells in her bone marrow and the fourth stage of cancer. Thereafter she was given treatment and chemotherapy.
In the month of June 2019 she was shifted to Sacred Heart Convent, Ludhiana for better treatment and rest.
On 19.08.2019 she attended Mass and was bright and happy. This morning at 3am she had temperature and was feeling restless, and her condition became critical. Doctor was called to attend on her who intimated that her end was near. While the parish Priest was anointing her, Sr Immaculate peacefully joined her creator at 9:31am amidst the Sisters of the Community who strengthened her with prayers.
I express my sincere condolences to the members of Sacred Heart Convent, Ludhiana community, and in a special manner to SrErasma the Provincial Superior, Northern Province and her team members.
