Sr M Suman BS of the Holy Family
Sr M Suman BS (60) nee Maxina Secundina D’Souza of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany of North East Province passed away on Wednesday the 24th July 2019 at 4.00 pm due to cardiac arrest at ILS Hospital, Agartala, Tripura in the 39th year of her Religious Profession.
Sr Suman hails from Little Flower Church, Kallamundkur, Niddodi Parish, Mangalore Diocese. She is the daughter of late Mr Baptist D’Souza and late Mrs Alice Goveas. We also have two of her elder Sisters, Sr Justinian and Sr Severine as Bethany Sisters. She has a Priest brother Fr Ronnie D’Souza Serving in Jhansi Diocese.
Sr Suman was the Superior of Bethany Convent Kathalcherra in Tripura. She came to North East mission after her Perpetual Profession in 1986. Since then she has rendered selfless service especially to the poor and the marginalized through Socio-Pastoral apostolate. She was outstanding in her commitment to her mission. She used to be on the move at all times. She was dear to everyone as a Superior of the community, as Hostel Warden and Directress of Jeevan Jyoti Vocational Training Center in Lumding. The special quality of Sr Suman was to accomplish speedily and whole heartedly whatever assignment she undertook. She was a daring and courageous person and was ready to walk an extra mile and undergo any trouble in fulfilling the task at hand.
She complained of chest pain yesterday on Tuesday and then Sisters took her to the nearby hospital. Later, she was shifted to Agartala and was admitted to ILS Hospital towards early hours of Wednesday. Her condition was stable in the morning. But at 4.00 pm she suffered a massive heart attack and flew swiftly to God’s bosom. We are deeply saddened by her sudden passing away. May her soul rest in peace
Her funeral rites will be held at Bethany Provincial House, at 10.00 am on 27th July at Guwahati on Saturday.
