Bendur Mangalore,24 October2018:Sr Maria GorethiBS (85) nee Mary Varkey of Bethany Congregation, Southern Province, passed away on October 23rd, 2018 at 11.45 am at St Stella Maria Convent, Puthenthope, Trivandrum, in Kerala. She hails from Chenganacherry Diocese of Kottayam District. She is the daughter of late MrVarkey and AnnammaMoolamattathil. Her funeral rites will be held on 24th October 2018 at 3:30 pm at St Ignatius Church,Puthenthope.
Sr Goretti has rendered her services in the Nursery Schools, social workcentres and in non-formal education for about 63 years in our communities ofBethany-Mangalore, Sagar, Londa, Madahbhavi,Santibastwad,Kulshekar,Kinnigoli,Kalpetta, Pathanapuram, Chevayur, Chathamangalam, Kamukincode, and Puthenthope.
She was a committed and dedicated teacher and won the hearts of small children and parents alike. After her retirement, she was fully engaged inpastoral work of the parish. She would attend any number of Masses on the same day offered in the parish, for various occasions. People would appreciate her presence on such occasions. She was polite and gentle in her ways. All through her years she worked zealously. She had great love for the poor and sick and wouldvisit them very often. She was very cheerful always.
She was suffering from age related problems and was bed ridden for the last six months due to a fall.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and perpetual light shine upon her; may she rest in peace.
